The [[Defenders of the Faith]] are/were a group of several CTYers at CTY Nanjing's first ever session. The Defenders of the Faith's mission is to prevent CTY Nanjing (and all other CTYs for that matter) from losing all of the quirky tradition that makes CTY more than summer classes. The term was first coined by Jared S in a Facebook status of his in response to the un-CTYness of the first dance, after which a Facebook group was created by Michael Baresich with the same name. There were almost no Canon songs played, and ''Stairway to Heaven'' was cut short to play a bad rap song for the sole purpose of luring people back into the dance. At the second dance, a few more Canon songs were played, but a majority of them were at the very beginning, when people were still in their rooms. In response, the Defenders slipped notes under the music control room's door asking the RAs to "Play music please." The third dance has not happened as of this article.
