The Haverford site is located at Haverford College in Haverford, PA. It opened in 2013, and serves between 230 and 250 students. The campus is also an arboretum, and as such has a ridiculous amount of trees. Due to its age, it is lacking in traditions, with the exception of American Pie, Forever Young, and Stairway to heaven being played at every dance.

History

This site was opened in 2013 at Haverford College. After the Moravian Site closed in Bethlehem, PA the younger students were integrated into Easton and it seems many of the older students who went to Bethlehem or Easton wound up at Haverford. Many of the Haverford staff also came from the Easton site. As a new site, there were a few more restrictions or stricter regulations associated with the first year including earlier lights out (10:30pm) on the final night and no going off campus.

Places

  • Dorms:
    • Barclay Hall: Old dorms for males. First session, 3 of the 4 floors were used. Second session, only 2 floors were used, with 2 RAs per floor. Some of the rooms are suite style and some are singles. There are 3 bathrooms per floor. No elevator. There is a laundry room in the basement. It was rumored that the upper floors were haunted.
    • Jones Hall: Older dorms for females. All four floors were used, both sessions. The floors consist of four separate suites, each with four rooms and one lounge. There is one RA per floor and one bathroom. One awful, smelly dumbwaiter. One laundry room of questionable effectiveness in the basement. Each room comes equipped with one crappy air conditioner with no visible temperature control that had an approximate 12.5% chance of leaking, creating a huge puddle on the carpet and making the entire suite smell like pond water for the rest of the session. Sleepovers allowed in the common rooms of each suite.
    • Kim Hall: Brand new dorm for males and females first session but then only males second session. All rooms are singles and sleepovers were not allowed because of potential fire code violations. There are four bathrooms on each floor and two laundry rooms. There are also two lounges and a study area each with big flat screen TVs that are not allowed to be used. Also for some reason there are no indoor stairs leading up to the second floor. There are 3 RA halls per floor.
    • Tritton Hall: Brand new dorm for males and females first session but then only females second session. Exactly the same layout as Kim.
  • Other Buildings:
    • Stokes: Building where a handful of classes are held. More notable is the auditorium where movies are played during dances or movie night. Occassionaly used by RAs for karoake.
    • KINSC: Composed of several different buildings, KINSC is the main building for classrooms
    • Dining Hall: Self explanatory
    • The Coop: The source for somewhat more edible food on campus. Generally only accessible to students on weekends. Particularly notable is the F'real milkshake machine.
    • Whitehead Bookstore: Typical college bookstore with food and college apparel. Only visits are on weekends
    • Gardener Gym: Building with the basketball courts where activities and sometime weekend events take place (Mystery night, color wars, etc)
    • Founders Hall: The building with the ballroom that was location of the dances. Some spaces in it were also used by the Krinsky camps, and Krinsky campers would frequently try to sneak in to dances or take pictures of the dance. The bathroom is downstairs in a very obscure place.
  • Open Areas:
    • Barclay Field: Large field adjacent to the duck pond and barclay hall where various activities took place
    • Founder's Green: Large field with paths directly in front of Founder's. This is where many outdoor activities took place as well as free time at night or after meals

Notable Occurrences

  • 13.1:
    • Students from another camp kept trying to crash the CTY dances before they were yelled at by the RAs
    • Kim hall became a humid swamp after people left their windows open over night
    • A giant branch almost fell on some campers until RA Jeeves superman'd their lives

  • 13.2:
    • A soccer ball was kicked and hit a sprinkler in Barclay hall during the last week causing the entire building to flood. The fire alarm went off more than twenty times throughout the night and people were forced to sleep in Founder's
    • Unlike first session, there was no Caasino night because people kept stealing money during first sessions caasino night. It was replaced with Quiz Bowl.
    • Ice cream in the dining hall was taken away the third week
    • The game "The Slender Man" was played at night in the dorms, leaving some campers too scared to go to sleep
    • By the second weekend most of the camp (including staff members) were playing Pokemon through emulators
    • Jones hall fire alarm was triggered from the outside at the end of the second week.

Activities

  • Haverford Specific
    • Is It A Cat?
    • Wurst Activity Ever
    • Soooooooooooooooooccer! (now w/ more Borja)
    • Arboretum Tour: An activity only possible at Haverford. Created by Jeeves, but actually led by a member of the arboretum staff. If you like trees, it's awesome. If you don't like trees, it's less awesome.
    • Hunger Games

Tips/Advice

  • NEVER swing your lanyard or bad things will happen to you
  • Never kick a soccer ball or throw a Frisbee inside unless you want to lose all your sleep.
  • Food
    • Bring plenty of snacks and money to buy snacks because the food has a reputation of being disgusting and literally sickening
    • The spinach and carrots are heavenly when fresh.
    • Like most sites, peanut based foods are rare in the dining hall
    • Dining hall is composed of six main food areas (main dishes, pizza/nacho/taco/etc bar, salad/sandwich bar, desserts, and ice cream/cereal nook)
    • Clean up all tables or ice cream will be taken away
    • If you go to The Coop and try to get a F'real, the milkshake will melt if you leave it out of the freezer for too long and it will jam the machine.
  • Dorms
    • If you live in Kim or Tritton, don't open your windows. The building has some sort of green design and uses temperature and humidity sensors to monitor and control the internal temperature. If the windows are open, it will make the computer running the air conditioning freak out and do weird things, like raise the temperature of the building by 10 or 15 degrees.
    • Jones is the worst forever. Jones girls, however, are bonded for life because of their shared Jones experience.

  • Don't talk to strangers, especially kids at the other camps

Staff

  • 13
    • Ravi: known for being the frisbee guy and having an angelic singing voice
    • Nick: known for his beard and being a power lifter. Also known for having an eagle eye for lanyard violations
    • Borja: known for soooooooooooooooooooooooooccer!
