Academic Quad

  • Bosler - Writing Courses/Humanities/Math Classes
  • Denny - Humanities/Some Math. Probably the most mysterious/secret filled academic building. It has many secret stairwells, odd rooms (such as a chapel on the third floor) and conveniently secluded spots.
  • East College - Humanities, always Political Science
  • Althouse - Science Classes
  • Weiss - Music Theory only
  • Dana - Science Classes. Dana, Weiss, and Denny are not actually on the Academic Quad, however only Dana has seperate breaks. (edit by Rae: Actually, some of Dana breaks on the Academic Quad, seeing as there is about 7 and a half square feet of grass outside of Dana)

Upper Quad

  • Quads 1-4, 6 (Quad Sex)
  • Super Quad (4-5)
  • Super Quad Arch
  • Upper Quad lawn

Lower Quad

  • Quads 7 (Shmello Quad) and 8 (Known for their smell also after the flooding of 06.1)
  • Uber Quad (Quads 9 and 10) (Known for its smell, whose origins remain a mystery.)
  • K-W (Academic Offices and previously girls dorms-(has been a guys dorm since 2007.1))
  • K-W lawn and Lower Quad lawn
  • Lower Quad lawn has huge floods whenever it rains, but they usually subside quickly.

The HUB

The Hub is famous for many things-

One, actually having a HUB (large, corny, irritating spiral stairwell right in the damn center. You have no idea how many people walk into the glass surrounding it)

Two, having convenient make-out areas in the downstairs vicinity

Three, always serving HUB Donuts at breakfast. And HUB potatoes (see below)

Four, The Devils Den Convenience Store.

Five, The bookstore, complete with gossip rag rack.

Six, THE COUCHES!!!!

HUB Potatoes

The HUB is famous for serving potatoes with every meal. Literally. CAR kids so love the potatoes that the RAs who wrote the weekend schedules made this haiku in the second session of 2004:

Dinner time is here
feel your stomach clench in fear
potatos draw near

This is because there is a large room in the back of the kitchen, never seen by CTYers, containing the POTATOR. the POTATOR is a giant potato that spawns whatever potato dish is required that day. For mashed, a section will fall off and liquefy. For baked, little normal-sized potatoes will pop up and fall off. Other forms of potato flesh are procured in similar manners. POTATOR regenerates itself and will never die.

According to another weekend schedule that session (or was it the same one?), HUB potatoes are people (and may be sacrificed to Godzilla in place of human flesh by the Cult of Godzilla).

The ATS

The Anita Tuvin Schlechter auditorium [a-NEE-ta TOO-vin SHLEK-tur] link is a large, strangely shaped auditorium that can comfortably seat an entire CTY session at once. All of the dances are held there, as well as the talent show, closing ceremonies, and the occasional activity. Her picture greets the front entrance to the auditorium, and we can only thank her for her generosity. Plus, her name's just fun to say. Everbody loves Anita Tuvin Schlechter and her auditorium!

Added: Actually, I always thought that dear Anita looked like a man. And isn't her name just fun to say? I still say it sometimes, out of the blue...just for the heck of it.

The first time I saw her portrait was during a willy wonka themed thing and everybody was like, is that a decoration? And someone was like no thats my friend anita. And her name is always popping into my head.

Kline Gym

Kline is always offered as an activity for both periods; a person can go to chill on the couches, hang out with friends on said couches (or floor, chair/table combo, open space). There is also an indoor track, basketball court, tennis court, racquetball/squash courts, and an upstairs dance studio that the ballerinas use on occasion. There is also a swimming pool, which is reserved for a separate activity. One spot in the "basement" (track level) is good for making out... next to the soda machine.

Students with the last name of "Kline" have often been asked whether they are in any way related to the building. The answer is usually no, but one CTYer was allegedly related to Mr. Kline.

Double-Klineing

Going to Kline for both activity periods. Fun on rainy days, or days with terrible activities.

KW

KW is where you go if you get in trouble, get sick (the Health office is in KW) or, alternatively, if you 'live' there. Halls KW-A and KW-B are in KW. KW is also referred to as, "K-Dubs."

Massey's

Massey's is the ice custard place near Dickinson that has really good shakes. I suggest a vanilla shake. Trips are rewards for good behavior, clean rooms, quiet weekends, and making sure to follow rules. Teachers and RAs must take students over, they can't go alone. Everyone loves trips there even if they don't like the treats. For those who don't have the shakes or ice cream, Massey's sells lots of bouncy balls or puzzle balls for a minimal fee of 25 cents. Great if bored in ones own hall.

The Devil's Den

The Devil's Den is a wonderful little store that sells newspapers, caffeine, snacks, ramen noodles, playing cards, gum, and other little odds and ends that CTYers require or desperately crave. They also sell contraband merchandise like condoms, flashlights, and Cheez Whiz, as well as odd things only college students would need (like ping pong balls and streamers).
