Hi! My name is Bergit, but I'm somewhat-generally called "Bee" at CTY. (note: ignore her, she is B, y'all, not Bee!!! that's her initial, not an insect ~ love, [[User:Harriet|Harriet]]. ) Which is ok, and much better than "Beer-jeet", or any other mispronunciation of my name. You call me "Beer-jeet",  you die.

I took Astronomy in 2005.2, Math Logic in 2006.2, and Cog Psych in 2007,2 (my no-more year). I also took crafting the essay via email.

After CTY, I spent a few weeks at Brown University using the Summer@Brown program to study Existentialism. It was an awesome experience which I would recommended to no mores and older students as an alternative to CTY Princeton. I had some trouble following rules at CTY during my last year, partially because I spent the beginning of the summer as a camp counselor. It was hard for me to transition from being a person of authority to being treated like a child. Brown's program was the complete opposite of this - there were no rules other than a midnight curfew, which simply meant you need to stay on your floor. It was a great opportunity for me to transition to the greater personal and academic responsibilities of college life. For the first time, I had to keep track of my own money, laundry, academics, and relationships without any adult interference.

I'm not a particularly good singer, but I do like to sing. A lot. So if you've ever seen a really short girl singing somewhat awkward songs... yeah... that was probably  me. I roomed with Harriet in 06 and 07, we were double-trouble.

I'm currently a student at the University of Virginia, class of 2013. I'm probably going to major in chemistry, and hopefully graduate with a BSc.

You should probably stay away from me. I'm a real trouble maker. I violate PDA rules. I tend to come to class (slightly) late. I sneak into the mail room early. I swing my lanyard in open spaces. I draw bad pictures when I'm supposed to be taking notes. I hum (oh no!) during class. I buy Cosmopolitan at the campus store. I read books in the middle of the night (using the light from *outside* my window!). They even have a file on me (and my class) in Baltimore because we called Site Director Brian into our class and staged a mini and very civil rebellion. Why? Because CTY if a gifted and talented program. Every students deserves to be challenged, and if the entire class is held up while once student has questions answered, someone is being really inefficient. Students should be able to ask questions without bringing the class to a screeching halt. I strongly protest mandatory, repeated honor-code signings. Bringing out a new copy for everyone to sign whenever anything goes wrong is beyond pointless, it is shameful. This ideology propelled me into the middle of the group of students protesting their treatment at CTY, though managed NOT to be put on probation. I attribute this to sheer dumb luck, and the fact that I made no attempts to buy children.

Somehow, I wound up at the University of Virginia, where all students sign an honor code when sending in their applications. Go figure, at least they tell you what you are getting into.
