About Me

Hi. My name is Anouk. My main, extreme obsession is Band. Other obsessions include reading, editing my userpage, and organizing random parts of the house. I once got rid of at least fifteen cubic feet of stuff from me and my brother's rooms combined. I'm an introvert, but I have a tendency to talk a lot, probably too much with friends. One of my goals is to go to either Lancaster or Saratoga before I get too old to attend CTY. Unfortunately, I'm limited to Seattle due to financial issues, so this goal isn't exactly going to be reached.

Sites

YS LOS 15.1

Course: Examining the Evidence: EXAM

Instructors: Elicia and Mark (TA)

Hallmates: June, Leah, Alexandra, Mio, Miranda, Chia-Hua, Elise, Thuivi, Natalie, and one more whose name I forget but I know she was Korean and from Los Angeles

RA: Emily Davis

Residence Hall: Huesman

Firsts:

  • First CTY
  • First Powerade

Restricting my technology-deprived nine-year-old self of smartphone use is NOT a good idea. Apparently my RA thought otherwise. She made a bunch of new rules meant for me but made the entire hall obey them too, making me really unpopular. I didn't get the impression that my Instructor or TA liked me either. I remember my lanyard got hooked on a branch during break time and broke and my Instructor started ranting about the poor quality of the lanyards that year.

YS PAL 16.1

Course: The Renaissance: RENS

Instructors: Kurt and Zach (TA)

Hallmates: Makayla, Carrie, Grace, Jennifer, Anne, Lila, Chloe, Natalie, Sunny, and Stephanie, who never showed up.

RA: Dara Homer

Residence Hall: Roble

Firsts:

  • First Starbucks
  • First Jamba Juice

I didn't have a very strong bond with my hallmates here either since they mostly spent all their time in a room staring at a screen, watching YouTube or playing video games or posting on Musical.ly or whatever. Since I didn't have a device and wasn't "cool", I was excluded from this group and spent most of my time holed up in my room, reading and binging on jelly beans (what a healthy, balanced diet). All my friends were in another hall across the building and we didn't find each other until the second week during activities.

SUN 17.2

Course: Principles of Engineering Design: EGRD

Instructors: David and Melissa (TA)

Official Hallmates: Aileen, Chris, Brianda, Georgette, Mariana, May, Selina, Wendy, Stephanie, Nina, Karen, and Alina

Unofficial Hallmates: Sophie, Elise, Katherine, Judy, and Alma

Official RA: Genesis Palacios

Unofficial RA: Sofi Halpin

Residence Hall: Campion

Firsts:

  • First Non-Baby CTY
  • First performance in Talent Show
  • First ISO
  • Two RAs and two halls!

I actually did qualify for IS CTY, but chose to take a CAA course instead since it was the only option that I liked. The other course I could have taken was INBS, but I tend to get queasy around dissections. The situation with my official hall was the same as the year before: They spent the vast majority of their free time on their devices or talking about things that didn't interest me. I made friends with members of Sofi's hall instead and finally discovered the real reason why I'd continued to attend CTY. I still have PCTYD and it doesn't look like it's going to go away anytime soon.
